National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for Mityana South, Kevin Nalwoga, has officially launched her 2026 parliamentary campaign, vowing to prioritise service delivery and restore effective representation in the constituency.
Nalwoga kicked off her campaign at Namungo Playground in Namungo Sub-county, where hundreds of supporters gathered for her first major rally since being declared the party’s official candidate.
Addressing supporters, Nalwoga criticised the current state of leadership in Mityana South, arguing that weak representation in Parliament has slowed development, particularly in infrastructure, education and health.
“Mityana South has not been represented the way it deserves,” Nalwoga said. “That is why our roads, schools and health facilities are still lagging behind. My campaign is about correcting this and ensuring that every community receives the services it is entitled to.”
She said her campaign would focus on improving service delivery, strengthening community engagement and promoting equitable development across all parishes.
Nalwoga appealed to voters to entrust her with the mandate to represent them at the national level, saying she would be a consistent voice for their concerns in Parliament.
“I am asking the people of Mityana South to give me their confidence,” she said. “If elected, I will work with you to uplift our constituency and ensure government programmes reach the people.”
Nalwoga’s candidacy followed an internal party review within NUP. Initially, the party card for Mityana South had been awarded to Fred Kintu, but Nalwoga petitioned the party leadership, citing irregularities in the vetting process.
After a week-long review, NUP reversed its earlier decision and announced Nalwoga as the official flag bearer. Kintu later returned to the race as an independent candidate.
The Mityana South parliamentary race is expected to be highly competitive in the 2026 general elections.
Candidates include incumbent MP Richard Lumu (Independent), Henry Kamya Makumbi (NRM), Amos Lutaya (DP), Henry Byarugaba (Independent), Fred Kintu (Independent) and Kevin Nalwoga (NUP).
Political analysts say the contest will be one of the most closely watched in Mityana District, driven by shifting political dynamics and high voter expectations.
As campaigns intensify, Nalwoga says she is prepared to take her message of accountability and change to every village in the constituency.
